Jackie Jones-Hunt’s career began as a lecturer who also worked as the student counsellor. She is now an author and lectures on a wide range of psychical phenomena which has occupied the minds of fellow psychical researchers for over a century. Significantly, Jackie has had many spiritually transformative mediumistic experiences throughout her life which led to her becoming a vegetarian 25 years ago. As her psychic experiences became increasingly profound so did her academic degrees and MPhil and PhD post graduate research dissertations.
Jackie has been a student at 3 UK universities.
Jackie studied for and attained a II-I BA hons at Lancaster University, UK. Jackie’s professors are recognised as leading world experts, namely Prof. David Waines, Prof. Ninian Smart and Prof. John Bowker. Her degrees and research began with Arabic language and Islamic Studies and World Religions which included religious archaeology and the religious history of the Middle East, the cradle of civilisations.
At Strathclyde University, UK, Jackie studied for and attained her Post-Graduate Diploma in Vocational Guidance and received further certification for successfully completing her probationary year. Due to Jackie’s extensive travel and study she was promoted in charge of Strathclyde Region’s Ethnic Minorities Unit based at Cardonald College, Glasgow, UK. Jackie provided courses on ethnic minority issues giving talks to teachers, lecturers and careers advisers in the Strathclyde region. (Scotland, UK).
Jackie continued for decades to pursue her research into paranormal phenomena. She recorded remarkable lectures given by mediums/channels in trance. Entranced mediums answered questions regarding life beyond the physical. She was convinced that research into mediumship has enormous implications for proof that life continues after physical death and that many dimensions exist. She corroborated this with other paranormal evidence, including that of Emanuel Swedenborg the genius, seer, medium and prophet to Europe’s royalty and governments.
Jackie also researched into other spiritually transformative psychic experiences namely shamanic, out of body and near death experiences. Jackie researched the personal experiential, the theoretical and observational with regard to each of these forms of paranormal phenomena. She has assessed their proof and implications for evidence for survival beyond physical death and is convinced life continues beyond the physical, for all animals, human and non-human alike.
Many years ago, having spent a whole year writing to UK universities to find a supervisor and a department for her field of consciousness studies research, specifically mediumship, Jackie realised she was looking for a needle in a haystack in the UK and indeed the world. No Department of Consciousness Studies and Sacred Traditions existed in the UK and no university would accept the study of mediumship. Jackie found that the field of consciousness studies, the field of the experiential, psychic and mediumistic experience, has long been the subject of attack rather than positive, objective research.
Jackie transferred her postgraduate MPhil/ PhD dissertations from the University of Wales, UK to the Canadian University’s Dept of Consciousness Studies & Sacred Traditions. She had learned about this innovative department from the Churches’ Fellowship for Psychical and Spiritual Studies UK (CFPSS). Upon leaving Jackie received a letter from the University of Wales saying she had been their best post graduate student. At the University of Wales she also edited student’s MPhils & PhD’s (on subjects not related to her own). Researching the importance of mediumship and its survival implications could not be pursued at Wales or anywhere in the UK at that time and is probably true today, in most countries, decades later.
Due to prejudice against this form of research, research is carried out by intellectuals in societies for psychical research based in different countries and organisations such as the Tiller Foundation founded by Prof William A. Tiller, author and Professor Emeritus of Stamford University, USA. Jackie’s academic dissertations were supervised each week by Rev Dr Elizabeth W. Fenske PhD in the USA who is internationally acclaimed for her research and contributions to the field of near death experiences and psychical research. Jackie was honoured to have her as her MPhil and PhD supervisor. Some of Rev Dr E.W. Fenske’s contributions to the field of consciousness studies include her role as Dean of the Dept of Consciousness Studies and Sacred Traditions of which Jackie was a post-graduate student. Rev Dr Elizabeth W. Fenske is also a past President of The International Association for Near Death Studies Inc (IANDS) and former Editor of the IANDS Journal Vital Signs. Rev Dr Fenske is also the Executive Director of the Spiritual Frontiers Fellowship International Inc., (ISFF) and is a Trustee of the Academy of Spirituality and Paranormal Studies Inc (ASPSI) among other positions.
Jackie was also honoured to have as her external examiner for her PHD dissertation on consciousness studies, Professor Carl Lindgren DLitt (USA). Professor Lindgren is a highly acclaimed author of books and has presented numerous research papers. A number of his merits are lecturer, scientist, psychical researcher, polymath, member of the International Academy for the Promotion of Scientific Research. Jackie’s postgraduate dissertations were further endorsed by Crawford Knox PhD of Oxford University, author of Changing Christian Paradigms and their Implications for Modern Thought, (Pub. Brill). Dr Knox is highly respected for his contributions to psychical research. To name some of his merits, he was a former Trustee and Hon. Treasurer of the Alistair Hardy (Psychical) Research Centre, Oxford UK. Alistair Hardy was a close friend of Dr Knox’s due to their shared interest in psychical research. Dr Knox was also a former Council Member of the Society for Psychical Research, London, UK.
Finally, in 2001, more than 20 years of research was completed by Jackie in her 2 x 100,000 word MPhil and PhD dissertations. They were on shamanic, out of body and near death experiences and mediumship. Jackie researched these phenomena throughout the ages and cross-culturally. Jackie analysed examples of mediumship throughout the world from the dawn of time to present day. She observed mediums in altered states of consciousness and a wide variety of paranormal phenomena. She became a great friend and student of Gordon Higginson, a world acclaimed teacher and medium, who was, for many years before his passing, the President of the internationally famous Arthur Findlay College, Essex, UK. For years Jackie undertook many courses which taught about mediumship and she observed differing types of demonstrations of mediumship and still does so today.
Jackie’s new supervisor was the highly qualified Dean of the Dept of Consciousness Studies and Sacred Traditions, the Rev. Dr Elizabeth W. Fenske PhD. The university was both authorized and licensed by the Wyoming Department of Education to issue post-graduate degrees when Jackie was a post-graduate student there - click. At that time the university was also accepted by the American Board of Medical Psychotherapists which is known for only accepting post graduate degrees from superior institutions. Her colleague a fellow post graduate student David Lingiah at that time received his certification to prove this - click to view. At that time, both authorisation and licensing was sufficient from a state’s Dept of Education to grant post-graduate degrees.
By 2006, under new management, the university changed its name for marketing reasons, sought to leave Canada and build an extensive campus abroad and through financial collapse it closed down. In 2006 over and above assessment by a state’s Department of Education which then provided documentation authorising and licensing a university to grant post-graduate degrees a new law was introduced stating all universities now have to undergo a process of accreditation. Moving abroad it planned to become accredited under the British educational system. However, it closed down due to financial collapse. Wyoming Dept of Education advises that all students who qualified before 2006, in view of the change in the law, that their employers and/or their future educational institutions have complete discretion to accept and validate any student’s degrees. This has been done.
The results of Jackie’s academic research into the origins and development of religions, archaeological explorations during her years of living in the Middle East and observations of psychic and mediumistic phenomena and the implications for survival after death are set out in Jackie’s fascinating forthcoming books. The first of which is Séances with God. Jackie has received many excellent reviews by internationally acclaimed world authorities on her research.

Since a student Jackie travelled extensively in the Middle East pursuing her interests in spiritual history and associated psychic phenomena. Alone Jackie finally emigrated to Jordan she worked as a teacher to finance her stay and related passion exploring ancient religious archaeological sites in Syria, Egypt, Israel, Palestine and Jordan. Her passion for psychical research and paranormal phenomena extends to the psychical elements inherent in ancient Egyptian, Hebrew, Jewish and Islamic (Sufi) traditions.
Jackie worked as a college and university lecturer in the west midlands at Solihull College and Warwick University teaching English and Islam. She has taught a wide range of related subjects. Jackie has taught extremely popular courses on psychical research since the 1980’s at copious colleges and universities across the United Kingdom including Warwick, Strathclyde and Paisley universities. These courses were intermittent with her travel, research and writing for her forthcoming books. Jackie continues to fascinate audiences as a visiting lecturer at diverse institutions, however, her main passion is writing on these subjects.
